Step 1: Create a Google Sheet

1. Go to sheets.google.com
2. Create a new blank spreadsheet
3. Name it "Rehearsal Ref Data"
   💡 The script will automatically create separate tabs for each of your classes!

Step 2: Add Apps Script Code

1. In your sheet: Extensions → Apps Script
2. At the top, rename the project from "Untitled project" to: "Rehearsal Ref Sync"
   💡 This helps you identify it later if you have multiple scripts
3. Delete any existing code in the editor (usually says "function myFunction() {}")
4. Copy the code below and paste it into the empty editor:

Step 3: Save and Test the Code

1. Click the 💾 Save icon (disk icon) or press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on Mac)
   💡 You should see "Saved" appear briefly near the top
2. Optional but recommended: Click the ▶️ Run button (or select "doGet" from the function dropdown and click Run)
   💡 This checks for errors in your code. You may see "Authorization required" - that's normal!
3. If you clicked Run and see an "Authorization required" popup:
   • Click "Review Permissions"
   • Choose your Google account
   • Click "Advanced" → "Go to Rehearsal Ref Sync (unsafe)"
   • Click "Allow"
   • Wait for "Execution completed" message
   💡 This pre-authorizes the script. If you skip this step, you'll authorize during deployment instead.

Step 4: Deploy as Web App

1. Click the "Deploy" button (top right corner, next to Debug)
2. Select "New deployment"
3. Click the gear icon ⚙️ next to "Select type"
4. Choose "Web app"
5. Fill in the deployment settings:
   • Description: Type "Rehearsal Ref Cloud Sync"
     💡 This helps you identify this deployment later
   • Execute as: Select "Me ([your email])"
     💡 This runs the script with your permissions
   • Who has access: Select "Anyone"
     💡 This allows the app to access your script (it's still private to you)
6. Click "Deploy" button
7. If you didn't run the script in Step 3: You'll see "Authorize access"
   • Click "Authorize access"
   • Choose your Google account from the list
   • You'll see a warning screen - Click "Advanced" (bottom left)
   • Click "Go to Rehearsal Ref Sync (unsafe)"
   • Click "Allow" to grant permissions
   💡 Don't worry - this is YOUR script, it's safe! Google shows this because it's not verified by them.
   💡 If you already authorized in Step 3, you'll skip straight to the deployment settings.

Step 5: Connect to Rehearsal Ref

1. After deployment completes, you'll see a "Web app URL"
   💡 It looks like: https://script.google.com/macros/s/ABC123.../exec
2. Click the 📋 Copy icon next to the URL
3. Click "Done" to close the deployment window
4. Go back to Rehearsal Ref and paste the URL in the Cloud Sync box
5. Click "🔗 Test Connection" to verify it's working
6. If you see "✅ Connection successful!", enable "Auto-Sync"
7. Click "☁️ Sync Now" to do your first sync!
